The Child Within Us All.

There’s a wounded child within us all, and we are reminded perhaps at the most inopportune moments. From something as minor as struggling to balance groceries as we reach for the door, to the life conditions which are often far more engaging – loss of job, mounting health issues, a feeling of ‘no end in sight’ – no matter how big out how small, our energy is easily disrupted. We long for simpler times as we simultaneously disregard the child inside.

As children, we’re led to believe that this world – and our freedom within it – will advance with age. We follow that path of well-worn footprints hoping to emulate and achieve. We visualize our ‘success’ without ever first defining it.

Meanwhile, the child inside waits for the calm of better days; of great oak branches just within reach and the bending twists of icy cold streams. This is where our conflict begins.

If there is one universal truth, it’s that each of us is captivated by stories other than our own. We want to be the hero, the lover…the guardian and friend. Though to what end? Are we losing ourself in this chasing of dreams?

When we forgotten the child inside, this is when our suffering begins. And, returning to that center is both our remedy and our means.

In peace, my sweet friends…
