As We Take Flight.

There’s a spot by the wharf where the gulls like to land. And, allowing their wings to be warmed by the sun – they bend, twist and reach. As if the sun, alone, were their only source of joy.

This is the depth of their mindfulness and awareness. Through a single point, their world is ‘made whole.’ But, that’s not the end of their ‘single source’. For just as the wind shifts, they take to their – their wings, now sails, upon a new frontier.

I’ve often wondered if humans might experience the same? Moment to moment, a patch of sun…a grande leap of faith into the air. And that which is left behind, diminishing to a speck of dust as we scale new heights.

With a subtle shift of focus, might we be similarly liberated? Our fears becoming a hint within a distant memory – a leap from the nest, as we aspire to greater. Are we limited merely by our own desire?

And, as DaVinci once said: Once we have tasted flight, we will forever walk the earth with eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you will always long to return.”

In peace, my sweet friends…

The Journey Left Behind.

“One day, I will find the right words,” Jack Kerouac once shared, “and they will be simple.”

He was speaking to his journeys upon the ‘open road’; traveling for the first time through the mostly untouched hills of the American Southwest.

It was here that he found his resting place; a space in which even the most solitary of breaths carried the amplitude of thousand suns. Where the desert flowers dared to bloom in spite of expert contemplations. And, the lone wolf called long into night – begging his God for just one more day.

In the vast expanse of a glowing empty night he learned that a spirit humbled is a spirit served.

And…

That what matters most is not who we once were, but rather more so who we might become.

“Our battered suitcases were piled on the sidewalk again; we had longer ways to go. But no matter, the road is life.”

Indeed, this road is life – and our legacy, the journey left behind.

The Genesis of Truth.

If everything within us – our thoughts, opinions, perceptions – is in a constant state of change. And, that which surrounds us, too – this matter and course of the physical world.

Then, how might we ever fully understand the context of our liberty within these margins of truth?

And, with respect to those longer shadows – do we fear their opacity, or do we fear their depth?

Oh, sweet child – how easily you’ve forgotten; that the genesis of our ‘truth’ is often born of mistake?

Is that not enough to secure your trust? To embrace these delicate holdings of an unconditional freedom?

In this, perhaps, we’ve found our cause; a refuge within this constancy of change.

A little something to consider, my loves…

This Constancy of Change.

Was it Gandhi who spoke of his commitment to truth over consistency? And, lending to this constancy of change – his faith, that we exist beyond these boundaries of mind.

Though, for most, they fear a loss of control and the inevitability of reconciliation. Tumbling blindly forward, they reach for that which is known – the stability of their past experience, however painful. Even as their hands become bloodied through the ‘thorniness’ of their clinging.

But what do they truly fear?

Is it their capacity to rise above? Their ability to adapt to change? Or, do they fear the truth in their transformation?

In other words, are we fearful of the change or fearful of what might be revealed?

My goodness, can you just imagine if the lilac tree held her bloom? Worried that their ‘crushing weight’ might be just too much for her branches to hold.

Wouldn’t the summer miss her sweetness? And the moonlight, the outline of her shadows?

Having said that, perhaps the question becomes – are we bound by our fears or liberated by this constancy of change?

A little something to consider, my loves…

This Greater Aspect of Letting Go.

What is it that causes our heart to be wounded? Denial, mistrust, betrayal – though we may term it as such, what is the underlying energy that keeps us tethered to a space we’d much rather leave?

Do we feel compelled to finish our business? To have the last word?
Or, worse yet – to find closure to this metaphorical chasing of tail?

Time shifts, time slips – is there no better cadence at hand? As contemplations of cause and effect make minions of our mind.

Do we see it? Can we know it? Or, are we suffering the blight of a spiritual betrayal? Beyond the aperture of absolute knowing, a greater truth begs reveal.

That the only hurt left to experience is that of holding on.

Having said that, perhaps fear of implication is the greater betrayal?

That Moment When Friendship is Formed.

“We cannot tell the precise moment when friendship is formed. As in filling a vessel drop by drop, there is at last a drop which makes it run over; so in a series of kindnesses there is at last one which makes the heart run over.” ― Ray Bradbury

And, my darlings, on this day—that ‘drop’ is you. For, because of you, my heart smiles in new ways each day.

Indeed, we may not always know the precise moment when friendship is formed—but, we can feel it, now can’t we? Just as sure as the light breaks the day. There is no question, no worry, no fear—in an instant, it’s just ‘here.’

Gracing our heart with the warmth of perfection.

Drop by drop, kindness soon rushes over the vessels edge—and, in that moment we understand the depth of our soul’s connection.

Wishing you peace, joy and the spaciousness of true bliss. I bow to you, my dearest friends.

To Dance in the Light of This Once-Only Journey.

“Dance. Smile. Giggle. Marvel. TRUST. HOPE. LOVE. WISH. BELIEVE. Most of all, enjoy every moment of the journey, and appreciate where you are at this moment instead of always focusing on how far you have to go.” ― Mandy Hale

What a beautiful message from author, Mandy Hale. A reminder to cherish these precious fleeting moments, before time has stolen them away.

To take notice of those little things.

To live, to love, to dance, to breathe.

To share in each wonder that this Universe brings.

To understand, with every single piece of our heart – that a moment, once passed, can never be ‘returned.’

So, smile…giggle…laugh, and enjoy; do what makes your heart smile BIG.

Life is too short, not to follow your dreams. Open your mind to the wonder of new things.

That we may learn to live BRILLIANTLY in this magic of NOW;

And, bask in the light of this once-only journey.

Namaste, my dearest darlings – and, on this day I wish you this moment of peace.
