Common…

To some, the word validates our distinction, forcing the construct of boundary where acceptance is needed.

While to others, it reinforces the depth of our connection; allowing diversity to serve the greater capacity of man.

Yet, which do we choose?

Do we limit ourselves through deliberation of cause? Or, do we allow ourselves the amplitude and scale of an unwavering light? Casting outward for the benefit of looking in?

The irony is that we are both separated and bound by these distinctions. Though, that which we share – the ‘common’, if you will – is infinitely more significant.

While each of us may walk a separate path, does the ground not welcome us equally? Are we not guided by the same warmth of sun? Do we not long for similar assurances?

We are unique, yes – though, this expression of our humanity is ultimately what binds. We are ‘made whole’ through the diversity of our not-so-common experiences.
