You see…the trees really *do* smile at me each day!
A beautiful reminder of the love which surrounds us in so many thought-inspiring ways; though sometimes missed.
With haste, we hurry past – unaware; disengaged. On our way to where?
To ‘find peace’ in another place. How easily we forget, that it’s always ‘just right here’ – hoping that we may some day be compelled to ‘see’.
The truth of our existence is reflected in nature. Through it’s continuous changeability, we understand that nothing is ever fixed. Not even the worst of our suffering.
Much like the rain, which is, simply speaking, nothing more than drops of water falling from the skies – we fail to see the innate synergy between the two:
That is, the indefatigable role between giver and recipient.
“The rain to the wind said,
You push and I’ll pelt.’
They so smote the garden bed
That the flowers actually knelt,
And lay lodged–though not dead.
I know how the flowers felt.”
― Robert Frost
In looking more deeply, we may begin to understand – that even the softest drop can cause the rock to wear through.
Just as this tree stands as benefactor of the rain’s unconditional love; so, too, must we be open to the loving-kindness which surrounds us all.
Like the flowers, we kneel before it – knowing the blessings these rains may bring.
Hence, this unbreakable smile.
Oh, that we might all some day know the secret of the tree’s lovely grin.
