When We Give of Spirit.

[blockquote source=”Leo Buscaglia”]It’s not enough to have lived. We should be determined to live for something. May I suggest that it be creating joy for others, sharing what we have for the betterment of personkind, bringing hope to the lost and love to the lonely.[/blockquote]

I groaned reading the notification from our dearest (and presumably well-intentioned) community association,

“Just a friendly reminder, it’s the responsibly of all homeowners to ensure the walkways nearest your home are cleared of all ice and snow.”

In hindsight, I was beginning to regret the decision I had made so many years ago – a big yard, with plenty of room for the children to grow.

sigh…

As I looked out the window, I saw the massive drifts from last night’s winter storm. And, thinking to myself, “It’s not even over yet” – in fact, this storm had only just begun.

Why, even my dearest puppy protested cautiously – as I tried my best to coax him outside. But, as the lights flickered with the howling winds – I quickly resigned myself to the task ahead.

Mother Nature makes no distinction between the able-bodied and feint of heart.

And so, I bundled up in my cold-weather best – Gortex boots and insulated cloves, and that ‘sub-zero’ coat, I purchased several winters back…the Blizzard of 2006.

But, just as I cracked open that front door – a folded paper fell to my floor,

“Thank you for all that you are and do; please accept what we have to give.’

It was a handwritten note from one of my dearest neighbors, I assume the very same who so graciously cleared the massive drifts from my walkways.

I am always touched when I witness such kindness But, when a giving heart is comprised of such selfless love – oh, my dears…that is the most magnificent gift of all.

Because, it is a gift born of spirit…one that generally finds us when least expected.

And, so my dears – before the winter snuffs my connection here, I thought…wouldn’t it be nice to continue to share the energy of this note received?

To share of our hearts, to someone in need? As we remind ourselves, that these gifts of spirit carry the greatest amount of love.

So, my dears – what one thing can you do on this day?
