“There’s nothing to BELIEVE.
Only when I quit believing in myself
did I come into this beauty…
Day and night I guarded the pearl of my soul.
Now in this ocean of pearling currents,
I’ve lost track of which was mine.”
– Rumi
My darlings, a beautiful passage from poet Jalāl ad-Dīn Muhammad Rūmī – and, in which he discusses the freedom born in that moment of letting go.
We cling desperately to our identity; grasping to that which we ‘know’ to be true, rather than venturing out into the uncertainty of the ‘unknown.’
Fear causes us to cling.
And, our fixed mind refuses to let go.
All in an attempt to gain security, to place a little more ground beneath our feet.
But, in reality everything is always changing; and we….are ‘the universe in ecstatic motion.’
It’s only when we’ve let go of these fixed ideals, that the true gifts of this Universe may finally be known.
