Within This Breath of Willingness.

[blockquote source=”Edith Wharton”]“Set wide the window. Let me drink the day.”[/blockquote]

I was listening to Matthew Schuler’s rendition of the song, “Hallelujah” this morning – the compassion in his voice spilling from each note, and filling the space between us.

Music has such a way of slipping easily past Ego’s sentinels; nearly undetected, its hypnotic rhythms flow through our senses, capturing the fullness of our attention.

In an instant…we are removed. Our world suddenly muted to the trappings of this earth.

And, oh my goodness – what an absolutely brilliant way to begin our day; filled with a hope, unbridled…and a sort of gratitude that burrows its roots into the deepest portions of our most imperfect soul.

In an instant….we are renewed.

[blockquote source=”Edith Wharton”]“In spite of illness, in spite even of the archenemy sorrow, one can remain alive long past the usual date of disintegration if one is unafraid of change, insatiable in intellectual curiosity, interested in big things, and happy in small ways.”[/blockquote]

To be unafraid of change, and insatiable in our curiosity…requires a delicate balance between boldness and bending. And for some, it can take a whole lifetime of learning – and for others, it becomes clear in an instant.

That the key to this, our truest bliss…begins in this breath of willingness
