The Making of Whole.

The French philosopher Jean-Paul Sartre writes that man is the sum of all of his actions. In the past, I believe I may have misrepresented his sentiment – thinking the ‘actions’ of the individual alone.

But truly there is a broader depth; one which speaks to a shared responsibility. How we choose to engage is merely one aspect; what we choose to allow – well, that’s quite another.

A local broadcaster suggested this to be the age of ignorance, that we are incapable of rising above the immediate impulse of ‘need’. With social media skillfully exploiting the sharper edges of our suffering, it’s no surprise that this illness has become pandemic.

Rather than thoughtful discussions, we reinforce our divide. This is right, and that is wrong – as if anything in this world were ever so clear.

In reality, there are no absolutes beyond this simple truth: that we, alone, hold the collective promise of all.   As truth seekers and guardians for that which makes us whole.

In peace, my sweet friends…
