As Witness to Awakening.

There is an aspect of spirituality that is often overlooked; one so fundamentally paramount that it must be engaged before the heart’s silence can ever be secured. That is, truthfulness and integrity in our observations – particularly as it pertains to inward reflection.

We are, by our nature, curious truthseekers. Whether gazing thoughtfully towards the heavens, or, rather more simply, enjoying the ‘warmth’ of tea between friends – we want so desperately to know. To embrace our truth and gain from the experience.

And yet, so often our engagement is limited. The legacy of our moments offers its wisdom freely – though, to what end? Do we carry the lesson or cling to our story?

Life continuously seeks to invite our presence – to engage the sensory experience without reaction. Whether through sight, sound or touch – our breath serves as a function of truth. If only, at first, in fleeting glimpses – finally, we begin to see. We begin to see through the illusion and prejudice of ego.

We become ‘as one’ – as witness to our own awakening.

In peace, my sweet friends…

A Patch of Cerulean Blue.

A saint once left his home to travel to a nearby city. When he returned he said to his disciples, “This place…you can’t imagine. Streets paved in gold and the skies lighter than a hummingbird’s wings.” His disciples, eager to know this glory, raced to understand. When they returned they muttered with disgust, “Ugh – the filth, the dust, the waning light.”

To each, the same – though, vastly different. Perception can create bouquets from wilted flowers, likewise – it can shift the weight of the world onto our heels. Everything, in fact, is exactly as it seems – and this life, precisely what we believe. The stars shine no brighter from the opposite ends of opposite ends of this earth.

No matter how well we live our life, there is always a ‘calibration’ which occurs – an adjustment of mind to suit the ‘reality’, a chiming of perception within the winds.

But are we missing the oft sought rustling of leaves, against a cerulean blue? Welcoming each day as an awakening, and every breath – a miracle.

You are just one thing, my loves – but you are everything, just the same.

To Stand as Witness.

“Everything changes,” writes Ram Dass, “once we identify with being the witness to the story, instead of the actor in it.”

Yet, true observation can prove a difficult task as mind taxes spirit with the need to understand. We may a muse a bit with wonderment, though inevitably we’ll contemplate our place amongst this greater order of things.

But for a few fleeting moments where we find ourselves captivated by the depth of blue in an endless sky. Or, a child’s laughter lifting the burdens of day. Only then, may we finally begin to understand – the joy of standing witness to our own story’s unfolding.

Is it the need to explore which drives us? As a child, I’d spend hours looking for the perfect patch of ‘boot crunching’ ice – about a quarter inch over shallow puddle. But when I found it? Oh – that was bliss! The sound it delivered as the top crumpled in.

As children, we understand what it means to be enriched by observation. So much so, it compels our daily focus.

So, what has changed, my loves outside this passing of time? Are we not the same bundling of effervescent light? Radiating this blessing of Divine-gifted right? Bound by only role – to be inspired by greatness.

And, when we finally realize – my darlings, everything changes.

Of What Might Be.

Today’s inspiration, my loves ~ ‘be grateful for what you have in this moment now, and ever-mindful of what may become.’

For time slips by without much consideration for the hopes and dreams kept tucked inside.

While heart presents need for thoughtful engagement of the world and this glory which surrounds.

Be grateful for what you have, my loves – for within this bounty life’s purpose abounds.

And always the greater question of now is an acknowledgement of what might become.
