As We Find Our Way.

When times are difficult, my loves; when we are challenged by our propensity towards unsettledness and fear. This is the time, did you know?

To lean in and to let it all go.

We all feel the ebb and flow; the tugging of circumstance on an already ‘worn thin’ soul. Inundated through the density of headline and agenda; our awareness becomes muted, at best. And, yet?

This is the perfect time to deepen our practice.

With every loss, there is a gain; to each, his own – the choice is made.

We find our way.

As action becomes purpose, and purpose – our peace.

With much love, darlings…

This World as We See It.

“I’m having a bad day,” he said, looking forward through a half-frosted window. The morning was bitterly cold with the coming of winter, and his thoughts were as dark as the sky.

He explained to me his troubles at home; a dishwasher that ‘barely got the job done’ and kids with ‘far too much’ energy. He paused just long enough to sip his coffee – a venti caramel macchiato with just a hint of cinnamon against the edge

I watched his face as he prattled on – lamenting home, work and the traffic both ways. With every word he fell more deeply into ‘self’, creating a ‘reality’ of world absent that much bigger picture.

I watched his face as he stared blankly into the parking lot — missing completely the elderly homeless man now picking through last night’s trash bins.

Nietzsche once asked, “Why does man not see things?” — offering perhaps that it was man, himself, standing in his own way.

We see what we wish to see, arranging this world to suit our ‘vision’. Logically, we understand these aspects of cause and effect – though often fail to see our role within it.

The eyes see clearly, yet also deceive – influenced by the voices which haunt our past history.

“Do you see that man standing out there,” I asked, pointing to the parking area. “He’s here every single day. I’d once asked him the source of his smile – and do you know what he said?”

The young man lowered his eyes and he shook his head slowly.

“He said, ‘I’m alive, I have food and now – the blessing of your company.'”

We see this world as we wish to see it. To some, a paradise; to others, a prison.

And, to those – the truly awakened souls, every moment becomes a cherished blessing.

A little something to consider, my loves…

In peace…

The Blessing Within the Morning’s Mist.

There was a mist upon the fields this morning; hanging delicately, offering her warmth to the sweet clover below.

With gossamered wings, she rose – tempting us to engage that which was always there, yet barely noted. The divinity of her grace framed solely through the simplicity of sun.

There is a softness to this earth, exposed; its edged smoothed through the weathering of winds and unmitigated exposures. Leaving us to stand in awed wonderment, as the depth of our own redemption is finally realized.

And, who are we to dare protest? The inspiration upon glistening leaf’s edge?

As twilight wraps in silken dress, we rest inside this breath of new.

In peace, my loves… and happy morning to you all.

As the Morning’s Glory Unfolds.

I was reminded of a story I had written many years ago and watching the morning glories unfold from my window.

It was the first time I recall being truly aware; awakened to the fullness of that very moment.

In my stillness, I could appreciate its depth of colors amplified through the grace of misted dew. And the cardinal’s vigilant gaze, mindful to the impermanence of nature’s view.

Most assume mindfulness to be an ‘all at once’ sort of revelation. Though, I believe it to be manifested within these pockets in between; fleeting glimpses into heart of simplicity.

As the venerable Thich Nhat Hanh once observed, “the real miracle is not to walk either on water or in thin air, but to walk on earth. Every day we are engaged in a miracle which we don’t even recognize: a blue sky, white clouds, green leaves, the black, curious eyes of a child — our own two eyes. All is a miracle.”

My darlings, today I wish you the blessing of this moment – and the opportunity to reflect on the greater miracles which surround.

In peace…
