The Blessing Within the Gift.

“Nothing we see or hear is perfect. But right there in the imperfection is perfect reality.” ― Shunryu Suzuki

I’ve been experiencing somewhat of a challenge, as of late.

My life, you see, has once again turned upside down ― a precursor to yet another greater life change.

“The world is its own magic,” Shunryu Suzuki once wrote.

I’ve always felt a sense of quiet comfort within these words. That is to say, if only we might let go of control – to surrender to the peaceful way of this Universe – things just might go a little more smoothly.

In doing so, we create the the conditions for the spirit to ultimately flourish. Watering the seeds, as they say – and, how wonderful that we are entrusted with the care of choosing just which seeds shall be sown.

Life isn’t always perfect, my dears. But, within this often maddening imperfection there is – a most perfect reality.

As many of you may know, this has been a particularly challenging year for me. Though, I’m not one to typically keep measure – I’d venture a guess, that this has perhaps been my most difficult yet. There’s been lots of uncertainty; loads of “I wonder ifs” – and, a good deal of ‘brushing it off and getting back up again’s.

But, where there is challenge – there is also room to appreciate, to learn, to grow. To step a little further into the ‘sea’ of our own unknown. We push our edges, we flex a bit – we stretch, we strengthen, we deepen.

This is the gift within the gift – those pieces which are revealed only when the spirit is tested.

And, my goodness – isn’t that the most perfect gift?

A little something to consider, don’t you think?

What Is Your Why?

Having a rough day, my darlings?

Put your hand to your heart, and tell me – what is it that you feel? Is it the thumping sound of soul come alive? A fearless explorer waiting to take on this world?

Is it the sound of life finding you with each new breath? That first kiss? That something missed? That sense of ease within the falling rain?

My darlings, what you feel now is purpose – it is your ‘why‘. That irrepressible force that carries you through each day.

And, is the very reason you are alive.

So, cherish this day – my loving friends. Take wrong turns, follow overgrown paths. Delight in the sense of new adventure.

But, by all means – don’t wait for life to happen to you; take little steps to find your life’s greatest bliss.

And remember, as Friedrich Nietzsche once said,

“He who has a why to live for can bear almost any how.”

So, now tell me, won’t you – my dearest darlings: On this day, what is your why?

Taking Big, Glorious Wrong Turns.

[blockquote source=”Randall Munroe“]“Take wrong turns. Talk to strangers. Open unmarked doors. And if you see a group of people in a field, go find out what they are doing. Do things without always knowing how they’ll turn out. You’re curious and smart and bored, and all you see is the choice between working hard and slacking off. There are so many adventures that you miss because you’re waiting to think of a plan. To find them, look for tiny interesting choices. And remember that you are always making up the future as you go.”[/blockquote]

An image of my beautiful daughter, doing what she loves most of all – wandering every single path in this world, and leaving no stone yet unturned.

Take big, glorious wrong turns, my darlings. Explore new paths to destinations that are as of yet unknown. Blaze trails to the unexpected – dare to dream, and dare to be, once more.

The light of a new day lives always within you – and, it is forever calling your name. Can you hear it, my dearest darlings? This dream you’ve always know was yours.

Much love, to you, my darlings ~ and many blessings on this hope-filled day.
