Peace

How to Find Peace in this World.

I happened upon a passage this morning, the source of which is unknown. If I may, I’d like to share it here:

“At the end of his lecture on compassion and peace someone from the audience asked the Dalai Lama, “Why didn’t you fight back against the Chinese?”

The Dalai Lama looked down, swung his feet just a bit, and with a gentle smile replied, “Well, war is obsolete, you know.”

Then, after a few moments, his face shifting to grave, he said, “Of course the mind can rationalize fighting back … but the heart, the heart would never understand. Then you would be divided in yourself, the heart and the mind, and the war would be inside you.””

Unless our minds become gentler, my loves – intellect will always find the means and justification towards violence.

Take away the guns, and there will still be stones and sticks.

Take away the sticks, and there will be words.

Though, take away the true source of unrest, my darlings – and, there will be only love.

Unless we are able to find peace in the delicate balance between mind and heart, unless we are able to set aside the stubborn dogma of ego– there will always be a ‘war’ within. Something to conceal humanity’s grace. Something to set us apart.

My darlings, until there is a true and lasting peace within – there can not be a peace to surround.

A little something to consider on this day, my friends ~ and hopefully to shape our interaction with this world.

Namaste ~ ❤️

The Miracle of Being.

Author Henry David Thoreau once remarked, that every morning was an invitation to make life of equal simplicity, “and I dare say innocence”, with Nature, herself.

“Birds do not sing in caves,” he urged. “Nor do doves cherish their innocence in dovecots.”

And, as I sit watching the cardinal’s colors pop through frosted window pane – my darlings, I couldn’t agree more.

As children, we spend hours selflessly nourishing curiosity and wonder; but, as we grow older…we lose sight of what it means to believe.

To believe in the simplicity and wonder of nature; and know, that it is the richest, most indomitable aspect of our own inner being.

The Promise of Peace.

[blockquote source=”Henri-Frédéric Amiel”]”Life is short and we have never too much time for gladdening the hearts of those who are travelling the dark journey with us. Oh be swift to love, make haste to be kind.” [/blockquote]

I read an article the other day; something along the lines of the sadness of world peace.

Sadness, you say? My goodness, and just how could that be? For each and every single morning I see, manifestations of human kindness radiating back to me.

I see it in the softness of a stranger’s smile. I feel it in the warmth of another’s touch. But more so, I feel it in every single moment in which my faith in humanity is restored.

“This generation shall never know peace,” he began. “When car bombs become common place, what is the sense in trying?”

To which, I might offer in response – that the only enemy of peace is resignation.

My darlings, if peace is elusive to this generation in need – then, we must do our very best to remind them.

We must remind through our interactions; through the continuance of a shared space of understanding. We must engage them in the prospect of fairness, and teach them the very foundations upon which equanimity is built.

We must prove to them that peace will find its way, so long as we shepherd it forward.

But most importantly, we show them what it means to be loved. Because, love is the greatest potential of our human hearts.

It sees us through the blinding pain…

It offers refuge when those storms roll in…

It has the capacity to draw even the most distant of hearts, nearer.

My darlings, when children are born they know only love…a love that is truly unconditional in its sharing.

So, instead of us ‘grown ups’ trying to figure out this world peace – let us take a look to our children. As perhaps, it is they who offer the greatest promise of peace.

The Gift of the Sacred White Buffalo.

[blockquote source=”Chief Arvol Looking Horse”]Each of us is put here in this time and this place to personally decide the future of humankind. Did you think the Creator would create unnecessary people in a time of such terrible danger? Know that you yourself are essential to this World. [/blockquote]

My darlings, did you know that the sacred pipe of the Native Americans – also known as the ‘peace pipe’ – is actually a very compelling symbol of the relationship between all living beings? It is said that a white buffalo calf appeared from the North – transformed into a beautiful young woman – to present this gift of peace to the world.

At the heart of it is the fire within our heart, carried on the winds of one purifying breath.

“Through it the human breath sends to all the six directions the purifying smoke that connects the person to the divine and is the link between all forms of life: mitakuye oyasin, we are all relatives.” –Joseph Epes Brown

Mitakuye oyasin – we are all one, my darlings. It is this breath of shared understanding that will eventually bring peace to this world.

Remember this as you walk along your path today; look into the eyes of a stranger – and honor the connection that we all share.

It’s said that the sacred white calf is very rare, indeed – occurring only once in an estimated 10 million births, and carrying this gift of an everlasting peace. Some believe it to be our greatest prophecy, calling upon all nations to consider the depth of it’s meaning.

From Chief Arvol Looking Horse and his hope for restoring the ‘wholeness’ of this Earth:

My Relatives,

Time has come to speak to the hearts of our Nations and their Leaders. I ask you this from the bottom of my heart, to come together from the Spirit of your Nations in prayer.

We, from the heart of Turtle Island, have a great message for the World; we are guided to speak from all the White Animals showing their sacred color, which have been signs for us to pray for the sacred life of all things.

The dangers we are faced with at this time are not of spirit, mistakes that we cannot afford to continue to make.

I asked, as Spiritual Leaders, that we join together, united in prayer with the whole of our Global Communities. My concern is these serious issues will continue to worsen, as a domino effect that our Ancestors have warned us of in their Prophecies.

I know in my heart there are millions of people that feel our united prayers for the sake of our Grandmother Earth are long overdue. I believe we as Spiritual people must gather ourselves and focus our thoughts and prayers to allow the healing of the many wounds that have been inflicted on the Earth.

As we honor the Cycle of Life, let us call for Prayer circles globally to assist in healing Grandmother Earth (our Unc¹I Maka), and that we may also seek to live in harmony, as we make the choice to change the destructive path we are on.

As we pray, we will fully understand that we are all connected. And that what we create can have lasting effects on all life.

So let us unite spiritually, All Nations, All Faiths, One Prayer. Along with this immediate effort, I also ask to please remember World Peace and Prayer Day/ Honoring Sacred Sites day. Whether it is a natural site, a temple, a church, a synagogue or just your own sacred space, let us make a prayer for all life, for good decision making by our Nations, for our children¹s future and well-being, and the generations to come.

Onipikte (that we shall live)”

Mitakuye oyasin – and, namaste my friends.
