We Are What We Choose.

I remember once many years ago; a young man, my date for the evening, had left me stranded – his interests swayed by another woman.

He’d left me at a table nearest the bar; after a few moments, I watched as they walked arm in arm to the parking lot. I didn’t chase after, and I didn’t lose heart.

Why?

Because, time is far too precious to fritter away. And, ours is a measure beyond this instance.

In the end, what matters most is not the time spent sifting through the fault of blame. Rather, it is afforded through a far simpler approach. As author, Jack Kornfield reminds:

How well have we lived?

How well have we loved?

How well have we learned to let go?

That in spite of the magnitude of our worries, we are continuously reminded – that peace is our choice, and our choice is always possible.

And within this simplicity, we find the clarity of our vision.

Certainly, I had every ‘right’ to be angry – though, what might this reaction have yielded? A closing of heart, and a bristling of mind?

I’d say, we’re better off without it – what do you think?

My mother always said, “surround yourself with good people and things.” To that end, these minor annoyances matter not in the grater scheme of ‘having each of you here each day’.

In the end, we are what we choose.

In peace, my loves…

Namaste ❤
