I was thinking this morning about the necessity of our interactions. Specifically, the predication of compassion upon empathy – and the need to encourage the graces of equanimity and justice.

And, leading us much further still – along this path where ego is still.

We may find ourselves frightened at the hands of an uncertain fate; uncertain of a trust that has not yet been ‘earned.’

And yet, still – we know. The energy of life forges our passage through.

Rossi Joan Halifax writes;

“We live in a time, when science is validating what humans have known throughout the ages: that compassion is not a luxury; it is a necessity for our well-being, resilience, and survival.”

To that end, how might we effect its unimpeded continuance – to encourage the roots often left unattended?

Through action, yes – but so much more. As it is only through the heart that our legacy may prosper.
